Miracle #2

It's rare that I have my phone on silent; with staff canceling and needing my attention at any minute, I don't use the silent option much. I had just got a massage so my phone was silenced. About two hours later, I realized I hadn't turned the volume up. Tiffany had texted me, "Did Julie get lungs"?

I started shaking! Oh God, please! Please Jesus Christ, save my best friend! Her sister posted on Facebook, "Julie is currently waiting at Loyola for potential new lungs. Still a lot to evaluate and decide on, so we will keep you updated. Thanks for all your love and support!! We need all the prayers we can get!! Go Julie!!"

Tiffany and I texted back and forth for a while but in reality, prayer was all anyone could do. I called Mom and asked for her prayers. I couldn't stop shaking and asking God for my best friend to get lungs. God, please...

I went to sleep on baited breath. I didn't get much sleep that night. Tiffany came in the next morning and nothing had been posted on Facebook. I couldn't go without answers. I texted Julie's mom, Mrs. D. I was so grateful because she texted back that, YES, JULIE GOT A LUNG! I pointed to the text and Tiffany and I hugged and cried! The miracle had happened! I texted everyone I knew spreading the miraculous news! Everyone was so overjoyed! I was rolling on clouds!

Fast forward a month later (which is why I couldn't write this post until today) and I am standing at her front door. Driving over, I thought about the hellish times. Driving to the hospital, driving from the hospital begging God not to take me to my best friend's funeral, driving to her house seeing her prefer G tube feedings instead of solid food, then I realized that was over! "It's over", I thought. The excitement was practically tangible in the car. My new assistant was driving so she didn't have a clue what she was witnessing which was the end of a long, hard journey.

Julie's dad put the ramp down and I saw my HEALTHY best friend for the first time in 16 months. I couldn't hug her because they are being extremely cautious so we fist pumped. I couldn't take my eyes off of her! She was running around, getting her friends drinks, all the stuff she couldn't do without lungs.

After we watched The Bachelor, I got to talk to Julie privately. The part of the conversation that I want to share is:

Me: Do you believe it was a miracle?
Julie: Yes!
